Herbs:

I finally found some herbs that I would love to start out with: lavender, chamomile, peppermint, valerian root, lemon balm, mugwort, ginger, licorice root, elderberries, calendula, and nettles.

Also some reads that I need to pick up on:

  • Anything by Rosemary Gladstar, especially her Family Herbal and Herbal Healing for Women (Rosemary is the author who inspired my interest in herbalism.)
  • Anything from Susun Weed, particularly Healing Wise
  • The Herbal Medicine Maker’s Handbook: A Home Manual - James Green (This will teach you how to make all kinds of herbal medicine from infusions to pills to syrups.)
  • The Complete Illustrated Herbal: A Safe and Practical Guide to Making and Using Herbal Remedies - David Hoffman (A wonderful reference book with information on many different plants.)
  • Garden Witch’s Herbal: Green Magick, Herbalism & Spirituality - Ellen Dugan (This is a great Pagan and spiritual reference if you’re interested, so is Scott Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs.)
  • A Field Guide to Medicinal Plants and Herbs of Eastern and Central North America - Peterson Field Guide (A must have for identifying plants in the wild!)
  • The Herbal Kitchen - Kami McBride (A mainstay in my kitchen, this book has so many wonderful recipes for incorporating herbs into your everyday cooking.)
